Product Overview

The Rebec A8S is a Hi-End DSP amplifier from Rebec’s A Series, combining digital signal processing with six channels of Class AB amplification. Six-Channel Class AB Amplification

The A8S uses a full Class AB amplifier architecture with a power transistor design.

At 4Ω, all six channels deliver 70W RMS per channel. At 2Ω, output increases to 100W RMS per channel, giving the amplifier additional capability when working with lower-impedance speaker loads.

The equal power distribution across all six channels is particularly useful for active multi-way speaker systems, where individual drivers can be assigned their own amplifier channels.

For applications requiring higher output, the Rebec A8S also supports bridged operation. At 4Ω, three pairs of channels can be bridged to provide 210W RMS × 3 channels.

This gives installers additional flexibility when configuring the amplifier according to the power requirements and layout of the speaker system.

DSP Processing and PC-Based Tuning

Digital signal processing in the A8S is handled by the AK7735 DSP chipset, operating at a 48kHz sampling frequency.

The signal path also incorporates a CS4344 DAC for digital-to-analog conversion and an MS5358 ADC for analog-to-digital conversion.

System tuning is performed through PC software, allowing the installer to configure the DSP according to the loudspeaker system and acoustic environment of the vehicle.

The combination of DSP processing and six independent amplifier channels makes the A8S particularly suitable for active car audio installations where individual speaker channels need to be controlled and amplified separately.

Designed for Active Speaker Systems

With six built-in amplifier channels, the A8S provides a natural platform for a 3-way active front speaker system.

In this type of installation, six channels can independently drive the left and right tweeters, midrange drivers, and midbass speakers. The DSP then provides centralized signal processing for the complete system.

The A8S also provides four low-level outputs at 2.0V, allowing processed signals to be sent to additional external amplification where required.

This gives installers flexibility to combine the integrated six-channel amplifier with external amplifiers when developing a larger car audio system.

Flexible Source Integration

The A8S supports several source connection methods for integration with different vehicle audio systems.

Its six high-level inputs accept signals up to 30Vpp, allowing connection to factory audio systems. Two low-level inputs support signals up to 8Vpp for compatible source units and other analog sources.

For digital audio, the Rebec A8S provides an Optical (Toslink) input supporting up to 192kHz, together with USB Audio 2.0.

Wireless connectivity is provided through built-in Bluetooth 5.0, with support for an external Bluetooth module as well.

These input options allow the A8S to work with factory sources, aftermarket sources, and compatible digital audio devices within different system configurations.

Sound Performance

Sound quality is one of the central characteristics of the Rebec A8S.

Rebec describes its sound performance as high resolution, with accurate computer-based tuning and faithful music reproduction. The A8S is also characterized as having a natural, clear and detailed sound.

Its technical platform supports this sound-oriented design with a signal-to-noise ratio of more than 101dB and THD+N below 0.05%.

Rather than focusing only on channel count or output power, the A8S combines Class AB amplification with dedicated DSP processing and audio conversion stages to provide a system designed around both tuning accuracy and musical reproduction.

A-Series Positioning

The A8S belongs to Rebec’s A Series, which sits high in Rebec’s DSP amplifier hierarchy, below the ES Legend Series and above the R, RS and RPX-B Series.

Its position is therefore different from the RPX-B models discussed previously. While the RPX-B Series provides more accessible integrated DSP amplifier solutions, the A8S places greater emphasis on its Class AB amplifier architecture, higher amplifier output, processing platform, and sound quality.

At the same time, the A8S should not be confused with the A12S. The A12S represents another step within the A Series with a different channel configuration and technical platform.
