Rebec RPX-B1260 – 12-Channel Class AB DSP Amplifier for Multi-Way Active Systems
Product Overview
The Rebec RPX-B1260 is a 12-channel DSP amplifier from Rebec’s RPX-B Series, combining twelve channels of Class AB amplification with twelve channels of DSP output in a single integrated platform.
Rather than concentrating power into a smaller number of channels, the RPX-B1260 is designed around channel capacity. All twelve amplified channels share the same power rating, making it possible to independently amplify a large number of loudspeaker sections while maintaining a consistent Class AB amplifier topology throughout the system.
Together with twelve-channel high-level input, multiple digital source options and PC-based DSP tuning, the RPX-B1260 provides the channel architecture required for complex active car audio configurations.
12-Channel Class AB Amplification
A defining characteristic of the RPX-B1260 is its 12-channel Class AB amplifier topology.
At 14.4V and 4Ω, the amplifier provides:
25W RMS × 12CH at 0.1% THD.
At 3Ω, rated output increases to:
33W RMS × 12CH at 0.1% THD.
Maximum output is specified at 60W × 12CH at 4Ω and 68W × 12CH at 3Ω, measured at 10% THD.
All twelve channels use the same amplifier architecture and provide the same rated output. This creates a straightforward channel structure when multiple tweeters, midrange drivers and other speaker sections need to be amplified independently.
The RPX-B1260 does not support bridged output according to the current specification.
Channel Capacity Rather Than High Power per Channel
The Rebec RPX-B1260 should not be interpreted simply by looking at its individual channel power.
Its main characteristic is the ability to provide twelve independent amplified channels from a single DSP amplifier.
Rebec identifies the RPX-B1260 as having more channels than the RPX-B1012, but lower amplifier power. This distinction defines the role of the B1260 within the range: its advantage lies in increasing the number of directly amplified channels rather than increasing the output available from each individual channel.
For installations involving many independently controlled loudspeakers, this architecture can reduce the number of separate multi-channel amplifiers required.
Suitable for Multi-Way Active Configurations
The twelve-channel architecture provides considerable flexibility for active car audio system design.
Rebec identifies the Rebec RPX-B1260 as a solution for a 3-way active front system combined with a 2-way active rear system, while still providing additional channel capacity.
A 3-way active front stage requires six independent amplifier channels for left and right tweeters, midrange drivers and midbass drivers. A 2-way active rear stage requires another four channels.
That configuration uses ten of the twelve built-in amplifier channels, leaving two additional channels available for system configuration according to the requirements of the installation.
The exact channel assignment can therefore be adapted to different loudspeaker layouts rather than being restricted to one fixed configuration.
12-Channel DSP Output
The Rebec RPX-B1260 also provides 12 low-level outputs at 2.2V.
This is important because the processing capability of the unit does not have to be used exclusively through its internal Class AB amplifier.
Processed signals can be routed through the low-level outputs to external amplifiers when a particular speaker section requires a different power amplifier or higher output capability.
The RPX-B1260 can therefore serve both as a twelve-channel integrated DSP amplifier and as the signal-processing center of a system incorporating additional external amplification.
Dual AP5688 DSP Processing
The updated Rebec RPX-B1260 uses two AP5688 DSP chipsets.
DSP processing operates at a 48kHz sampling frequency, with a specified dynamic range of 93dB.
The tuning platform provides a 31-band EQ, allowing detailed frequency adjustment across the audio system.
Its crossover section supports three filter types:
Butterworth, Linkwitz and Bessel.
The processor also provides six presets for saving and recalling different tuning configurations.
System adjustment is performed through PC software, giving the installer centralized control over the multi-channel DSP configuration.
12-Channel High-Level Integration
The Rebec RPX-B1260 provides 12 high-level input channels supporting 7.9–24.9Vpp.
This multi-channel input architecture allows the processor to receive a larger number of speaker-level signals from compatible factory audio systems.
For low-level analog sources, the unit provides two input channels supporting 1.3–5.1Vpp.
Combined with twelve high-level outputs and twelve low-level outputs, the RPX-B1260 provides extensive channel connectivity on both the input and output sides of the system.
Digital Audio Connectivity
The Rebec RPX-B1260 also supports several digital audio sources.
Both Optical (Toslink) and Coaxial inputs support signals up to 192kHz/24-bit.
A dedicated USB Audio input is also provided, while built-in Bluetooth 5.4 adds wireless audio connectivity.
These digital interfaces allow the DSP amplifier to receive audio from compatible digital sources without limiting the system to its analog high-level or low-level inputs.
DSP Signal Architecture
The signal architecture combines the dual AP5688 DSP platform with a CJC4344 DAC and ES7210 ADC.
The Rebec RPX-B1260 has a specified frequency response of 20Hz–20kHz, a dynamic range of 93dB, and a signal-to-noise ratio of 95dB.
Total harmonic distortion is specified at below 0.08% for both low-level and high-level signals.
The unit operates from a 10–16V automotive electrical supply, with a standby current of 800mA and maximum current of 60A.
Its dimensions are approximately 197 × 208 × 50 mm.
Twelve Class AB Channels in One DSP Platform
The core strength of the Rebec RPX-B1260 is straightforward: a large number of independently amplified channels within a single Class AB DSP amplifier.
Its 25W RMS ×12 at 4Ω output is not intended to make the B1260 the highest-powered model in the range. Instead, the twelve-channel architecture provides the flexibility required for systems involving multiple independently controlled loudspeaker sections.
With 12-channel Class AB amplification, 12-channel DSP output, dual AP5688 processing, 31-band EQ, multiple crossover filter types, six presets, 192kHz/24-bit Optical and Coaxial inputs, USB Audio and Bluetooth 5.4, the RPX-B1260 provides a practical platform for complex multi-way active car audio installations where channel capacity is a priority.
