Rebec RPX-B16S – 16-Channel DSP Amplifier with High-Power Channel Architecture
Product Overview
The Rebec RPX-B16S is a 16-channel Class D DSP amplifier from Rebec’s RPX-B Series, designed for complex multi-channel car audio systems that require both extensive channel capacity and differentiated power output.
Rather than providing the same output across all sixteen channels, the RPX-B16S divides its amplifier section into two groups. Channels 1–10 provide 50W RMS per channel at 4Ω, while channels 11–16 provide 100W RMS per channel.
This 10+6 power architecture allows different loudspeaker sections to receive different levels of amplification from the same DSP amplifier. The six higher-power channels also support 2Ω operation and bridged configurations, further increasing system flexibility.
Combined with dual ADAU1452 DSP processing, 31-band EQ, extensive analog input capability and multiple digital source options, the Rebec RPX-B16S is designed for sophisticated multi-speaker car audio installations.
16-Channel Class D Amplification
The Rebec RPX-B16S integrates sixteen Class D amplifier channels, divided into two power groups.
At 14.4V and 4Ω, rated output is:
50W RMS × 10CH (CH1–10) + 100W RMS × 6CH (CH11–16), at 0.1% THD.
At 3Ω, output increases to:
66W RMS × 10CH + 130W RMS × 6CH, at 0.1% THD.
This structure gives the RPX-B16S a different character from a conventional sixteen-channel amplifier with identical power across every output.
Ten channels are available for speaker sections requiring moderate power, while another six channels provide twice the rated 4Ω output for sections with greater amplification requirements.
Six Higher-Power Channels
Channels 11–16 are an important part of the RPX-B16S architecture.
At 4Ω, these channels provide 100W RMS ×6. When operating at 2Ω, their rated output increases to:
200W RMS × 6CH at 0.1% THD.
This gives the installer the ability to assign considerably more amplifier power to selected speaker sections while still retaining ten additional channels for the rest of the system.
The actual allocation can be determined according to the loudspeaker configuration and system design rather than being fixed to one particular speaker type.
Bridge Capability for the High-Power Channels
The six higher-power channels also provide another configuration option: bridge operation.
Channels 11–16 can be paired as:
CH11+12 / CH13+14 / CH15+16
to provide:
200W RMS × 3CH at 4Ω, measured at 0.1% THD.
Maximum bridged output is specified at 400W ×3CH at 4Ω, measured at 10% THD.
This gives the RPX-B16S an additional level of flexibility. Depending on the installation, the six channels can operate individually or be configured as three bridged amplifier channels where higher output is required.
Built for Complex Multi-Channel Systems
With sixteen amplified outputs available, the Rebec RPX-B16S can support a large number of independently driven loudspeaker sections from a single unit.
This becomes particularly useful in systems involving multiple active speaker ways, additional rear or surround channels, center speakers or more complex multi-speaker layouts.
Rebec specifically identifies the model as offering increased power compared with the RPX-B1680 and highlights its flexibility for Atmos-style car audio system configurations.
The significance here is not simply the number of channels. It is the combination of sixteen amplified channels and two different power levels, allowing power resources to be distributed according to the requirements of different loudspeaker sections.
12-Channel Low-Level Output for External Amplification
In addition to its sixteen amplified outputs, the Rebec RPX-B16S provides 12 low-level outputs at 2.35V.
These processed outputs allow external amplifiers to be incorporated when required.
This means the internal sixteen-channel amplifier does not define the absolute limit of the system. Selected DSP signals can be routed to external amplification where a different amplifier type or additional output capability is required.
The RPX-B16S can therefore operate as an integrated multi-channel DSP amplifier while still serving as part of a larger system architecture.
Dual ADAU1452 DSP Processing
At the center of the Rebec RPX-B16S processing architecture are two ADAU1452 DSP chipsets.
DSP processing operates at a 48kHz sampling frequency, with a specified dynamic range of 93dB.
For acoustic adjustment, the tuning platform provides 31-band EQ.
The crossover section supports Butterworth, Linkwitz and Bessel filter types, providing multiple filter characteristics for configuring individual loudspeaker operating ranges.
The processor also provides six presets that can be saved and recalled, allowing different tuning configurations to be stored within the system.
DSP adjustment is performed through PC software.
PCM1681 DAC and ES7210 ADC
The Rebec RPX-B16S combines its dual ADAU1452 processing architecture with a PCM1681 DAC chipset and ES7210 ADC.
The specified frequency response extends from 20Hz to 20kHz, while signal-to-noise ratio is rated at 105dB.
Total harmonic distortion is specified at below 0.01% for low-level signals and below 0.03% for high-level signals.
These specifications represent a notable difference from the RPX-B1680, particularly in the specified signal-to-noise ratio and THD figures.
Extensive Analog Input Capability
The Rebec RPX-B16S provides 16 high-level inputs supporting 7.9–24.9Vpp, giving it the channel capacity required for integration with compatible multi-channel factory audio systems.
It also provides eight low-level inputs supporting 1.3–5.1Vpp.
The eight-channel low-level input section is particularly useful when integrating the processor with multi-channel analog source configurations rather than relying only on a two-channel analog input.
This gives the RPX-B16S extensive analog connectivity alongside its high channel count.
192kHz/24-Bit Digital Inputs
Digital source connectivity includes both Optical (Toslink) and Coaxial inputs supporting signals up to 192kHz/24-bit.
The Rebec RPX-B16S also provides a dedicated USB Audio input.
Built-in Bluetooth 5.4 provides an additional wireless source option.
Together, these connections allow the processor to accept factory high-level signals, multi-channel low-level signals and several forms of digital audio input.
High Channel Count with Flexible Power Distribution
The Rebec RPX-B16S measures approximately 212 × 263 × 52 mm and operates from a 10–16V automotive electrical supply.
Its maximum current specification is 190A, reflecting the considerably greater amplification capability available from its six higher-power channels.
But the defining characteristic of the RPX-B16S is not one individual specification.
It is the combination of sixteen Class D amplifier channels with differentiated power output.
Ten channels provide 50W RMS each at 4Ω, while six channels provide 100W RMS each at 4Ω and can operate at 200W RMS ×6 at 2Ω. Those six channels can alternatively be paired to provide 200W RMS ×3 bridged at 4Ω.
This architecture gives system designers more freedom to distribute amplifier power according to the demands of individual speaker sections rather than treating all sixteen channels identically.
Combined with dual ADAU1452 DSP processing, PCM1681 DAC, ES7210 ADC, 31-band EQ, multiple crossover filter types, six presets, extensive analog inputs, 192kHz/24-bit Optical and Coaxial inputs, USB Audio and Bluetooth 5.4, the RPX-B16S provides a highly flexible foundation for sophisticated multi-channel car audio systems.
