Rebec RPX-B480V2 – Compact 4-Channel DSP Amplifier with 8-Channel Output
Product Overview
The Rebec RPX-B480V2 is a compact DSP amplifier from Rebec’s RPX-B Series, combining digital signal processing, four channels of Class AB amplification and flexible multi-channel output in a single unit.
Designed for car audio system integration, the Rebec RPX-B480V2 can receive signals from factory high-level sources, low-level sources, USB Audio, Optical, Coaxial or Bluetooth. Its four built-in amplifier channels can directly drive the main speakers, while eight low-level outputs provide additional flexibility for systems using external power amplifiers.
Compared with the RPX-B480, the RPX-B480V2 also features an updated PC-tuning platform with expanded software functions.
4-Channel Class AB Amplification
The RPX-B480V2 uses a Class AB amplifier topology with four built-in amplified output channels.
At 14.4V and 4Ω, the amplifier provides 25W RMS × 4 channels, measured at 1% THD. At 3Ω, output increases to 33W RMS × 4 channels.
Maximum output is specified at 60W × 4 channels at 4Ω and 68W × 4 channels at 3Ω, measured at 10% THD.
The integrated four-channel amplifier allows the RPX-B480V2 to directly power a basic speaker system without requiring a separate amplifier for those channels.
8-Channel DSP Output for System Expansion
While four amplified channels are built into the unit, the Rebec RPX-B480V2 also provides eight low-level output channels at 2.35V.
This gives the processor a broader role than its internal four-channel amplifier alone.
External amplifiers can be connected to the processed low-level outputs when the system requires additional amplification or more independently controlled speaker channels. The RPX-B480V2 can therefore be used either as a compact integrated DSP amplifier or as the processing platform for an expanded car audio system.
AP5688 DSP Platform
The updated specification identifies the AP5688 as the DSP chipset used in the Rebec RPX-B480V2.
The signal architecture also incorporates a CJC4344 DAC and ES7210 ADC, handling digital-to-analog and analog-to-digital conversion within the system.
DSP processing operates at a 48kHz sampling frequency, with a specified dynamic range of 93dB and signal-to-noise ratio of 105dB.
The frequency response is specified from 20Hz to 20kHz.
31-Band EQ and Crossover Processing
The RPX-B480V2 provides a 31-band EQ, giving the tuning system detailed frequency adjustment capability.
Its crossover section supports Butterworth, Linkwitz and Bessel filter types, providing different filter options when configuring the frequency ranges assigned to individual loudspeaker channels.
The processor also provides six presets that can be saved and recalled, allowing different tuning configurations to be stored within the system.
System adjustment can be performed through PC or App, while the updated PC-tuning software provides expanded features compared with the RPX-B480 model.
Multiple Analog and Digital Input Options
The RPX-B480V2 supports several different source types.
For integration with factory audio systems, it provides four high-level inputs supporting 7.9–24.9Vpp. Two low-level inputs supporting 1.3–5.1Vpp are also available for compatible analog sources.
For digital audio, both Optical (Toslink) and Coaxial inputs support 96kHz/24-bit signals.
The unit also provides USB Audio input and built-in Bluetooth 5.2, giving the system additional wired and wireless source options.
This range of inputs allows the RPX-B480V2 to work with different factory and aftermarket source configurations.
Compact Integration
One of the practical characteristics of the Rebec RPX-B480V2 is its compact physical format.
The unit measures approximately 120 × 167 × 43 mm, while integrating DSP processing, four-channel Class AB amplification and multi-channel output within the same chassis.
Operating voltage is specified at 10–16V, with a standby current of 340mA and maximum current of 20A.
This integrated architecture reduces the number of separate components required when building a basic DSP-based car audio system, while the eight low-level outputs leave room for additional external amplification if the system is expanded.
Flexible DSP Amplification for Car Audio Upgrades
The Rebec RPX-B480V2 combines the functions required for a compact DSP-based car audio upgrade without limiting the system to its four built-in amplifier channels.
Its Class AB four-channel amplification can directly power the main speakers, while eight processed low-level outputs allow additional amplifiers to be integrated when required.
The AP5688 DSP platform, 31-band EQ, multiple crossover filter types, six tuning presets and PC/App adjustment provide the tools for system configuration and acoustic tuning.
At the source side, high-level and low-level analog inputs, 96kHz/24-bit Optical and Coaxial inputs, USB Audio and Bluetooth 5.2 provide several options for integrating the RPX-B480V2 into different vehicle audio systems.
